UPMC Italy is issuing a call for applications for the following position: 1 Thoracic surgeon (Ref. Torac/19)

UPMC Italy offers professional opportunities in an international and multicultural setting at IRCCS ISMETT (Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione) one of the most technologically advanced and state-of-the-art medical centers in Italy, managed by UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) in partnership with Civico Hospital and the Ri.MED Foundation. 

The selected candidate will participate in thoracic surgeries and lung transplants, which include operating room activity, procurement and transplant, clinical management of patients, and research activity.

Requisites:

  • Degree in Medicine and Surgery recognized in Italy, or equivalent title
  • Postgraduate diploma in thoracic surgery recognized in Italy, or equivalent title
  • Enrollment in the professional board

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous working experience in other organ transplant centers
  • Specific training in transplant surgery and lung transplant surgery
  • International training experiences
  • Scientific production rated with the H-index
  • Good knowledge of English

The ideal candidate has the following characteristics: surgical and scientific experience in thoracic surgery; independent management of major thoracic surgeries in the scope of transplantation and elective and emergency thoracic general surgery; ability and interest in a project to develop and enhance the thoracic surgery activity; strong ability for interdisciplinary work and problem solving also for organizational and administrative tasks; background and ability in clinical research; good knowledge of the main computer applications, willingness to spend periods of training abroad, strong motivation, flexibility, and stress management, communication, interpersonal relationship, and teamwork skills.

The workplace is Palermo.

The contract offered will be commensurate with the experience and skills of the selected candidate.
