UPMC Italy is issuing a call for applications for the following fixed-term position: 1 Pediatrics Junior Attending (Ref. JAPED/20 TD)

In the field of pediatrics, the team also treats rare and autoimmune hepatic and intestinal diseases.

UPMC Italy offers professional opportunities in an international and multicultural setting at IRCCS ISMETT (Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione)  one of the most technologically advanced and state-of-the-art medical centers in Italy, managed by UPMC in partnership with ARNAS Civico Hospital in Palermo and the Ri.MED Foundation.

The selected candidate will work with the other physicians involved in the pediatric program. He/she will be involved in the activity of the general pediatric outpatient clinic and in the management of a pediatric hepato-gastroenterology clinic focusing on rare and autoimmune hepato-gastroenterology diseases and issues related to abdominal organ transplants and immunosuppression programs. The Pediatrics Junior Attending will also work in the inpatient units managing patients with medical and surgical issues, in collaboration with the surgeons, and will be included in the pediatric on-call and attending schedule.

Requisites:

  • Degree in Medicine and Surgery recognized in Italy, or equivalent title.
  • Postgraduate diploma in Pediatrics recognized in Italy, or equivalent title.
  • Enrollment in the Board of Physicians

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous pediatrics training and professional experience in hepatology units, and managing (liver) transplant recipients or patients with rare diseases.
  • Scientific production rated with the H-index (to be specified in the CV).

Other requisites: An interest and inclination towards scientific and research activity, English proficiency, a knowledge of the main computer applications, a strong motivation and flexibility, problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills are also instrumental to the role.

The workplace is Palermo.
